Financial Consolidation and Close

Oracle’s FCCS (Financial Consolidation and Close) is a much more strict and rigid form of EPBCS. In terms of customization abilities, it ranks from PBCS (being most customizable), to EPBCS (somewhat customizable), to FCCS (more limited customization than EPBCS). This rigid structure can also be a blessing in disguise - as it is impossible to mess up when implementing the application. What we can build in FCCS, we can also do in EPBCS/PBCS (and vice versa, etc.).

In FCCS however, the consolidation and elimination aspect are much easier in FCCS because they are already written and work. It is much harder to write them in PBCS/EPBCS and to get them to work as a business rule. FCCS has 11 dimensions and a max of 4 customized (there can not be more than 4 customized dimensions).

Case Study - Construction

Client wanted data to be migrated from an on-premise legacy system to FCCS. Our consultants redid the account structures, mapped the legacy accounts to the new accounts, imported 3 years of historical data, and made consolidation by year possible at the legal entity level. The implementation took around 8 weeks. After implementation, the process was reduced in time by 45% - thus making the process much more efficient.
