In OneStream XF, Dimensions and Members are arranged in a hierarchical order. By using Relationships, Members can be represented in multiple hierarchies within a single Dimension.
Upper-level members are usually called Parents. The members that are directly a level down from a Parent are referred to as a Child.
For all levels that are below a parent, the members are referred to as Descendants. The bottom most level of members are known as Base Members (usually, this is where data is loaded).
These levels and members are important due to the fact that OneStream XF does consolidations (as well as aggregations) based on these relationships.
